Sleep Apnea Testing

Now offering easy, convenient, at-home

Sleep Studies

Classically, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) was diagnosed with overnight, in-lab sleep studies, known as polysomnography. This comprehensive test involves spending the night in a sleep lab where various physiological parameters are monitored, including brain waves, blood oxygen levels, heart rate, and breathing patterns. While polysomnography is highly effective, it can be inconvenient and uncomfortable for many patients. Fortunately, advancements in medical technology have led to the development of FDA and Medicare-approved devices that can be used at home to simply and conveniently diagnose obstructive sleep apnea.

Testing Process

Here at Alpharetta ENT Specialists, we offer a very simple, easy-to-use device that can help test you for sleep apnea, all from the comfort of your own bed. This device is a ring that you wear on your finger while you sleep. The ring connects to your phone via Bluetooth, and the rest takes care of itself. The device monitors your oxygen levels, heart rate, and other vital signs throughout the night. Patients can then get results the next day when they bring the ring back to the office. This method not only provides accurate results but also allows patients to sleep in their own beds, making the testing process much more comfortable and less stressful.

It’s important to recognize the symptoms of sleep apnea and seek medical advice if you suspect you may have this condition. If you or a loved one is experiencing symptoms such as loud snoring, choking or gasping during sleep, excessive daytime sleepiness, or difficulty staying asleep, it is important to follow up in our office to be seen. Here at Alpharetta ENT Specialists, we can conduct a thorough evaluation, which can include a sleep study, to determine if sleep apnea is present and recommend appropriate treatment options.
