Allergy Testing

The first step in treatment is identifying the cause of the allergy. At Alpharetta ENT Specialists, we use advanced skin testing to diagnose airborne allergies. Allergy skin testing is the preferred method of evaluating allergies today. These skin tests are reliable, safe, minimally invasive and needle free! Skin tests give immediate results and usually cost less than allergy blood tests.

A skin test is a simple procedure that is best described as scratching the surface of the skin to allow the antigens to penetrate. The skin test is generally performed on your back. The skin is lightly punctured on the surface with a tiny plastic device that contains a small amount of antigen. If you are allergic to a specific allergen, a small mosquito bite-like bump (wheal) will appear. We will review your results with you on your testing day.
